Follow up! Mastering the Art: CJC Technical Skills Clinic with Sensei Magwood and Sensei Langevin

On Saturday, April 15, 2023, the highly anticipated CJC Technical Skills Clinic took place, led by the esteemed Sensei Greg Magwood and Sensei Terry Langevin. The event focused on the crucial “where do I go from here” moments that practitioners often encounter during Jiu-Jitsu flows, especially under the pressure of testing.

Drawing from their vast experience, the Senseis shared various techniques and options that students can apply when they find themselves in familiar positions. The seminar began with the Wrist Throw position, exploring potential responses when the technique fails or is countered, as well as how to effectively counter it. Participants learned new ways to transition between techniques, either by choice or necessity, including different throws, come-a-longs, breaks, or manipulations.

The goal of the seminar was to provide students with a range of fresh choices built on their existing reflexive techniques, as well as to introduce creative approaches to reaching familiar techniques from various positions and entries. The attendees of this skill-enhancing seminar were truly fortunate to learn from two of the best in the field, broadening their technical repertoire while fostering a deeper understanding of the art of Canadian Jiu-Jitsu.

We are grateful to Sensei Terry Langevin for sharing his insights on the seminar, and we eagerly await further details from Sensei Greg Magwood. Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you to everyone who participated in this exceptional event!
