In Memoriam: Grand Master Yogi Israel Segarra, 10th Dan (1947-2023)

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Grand Master Yogi Israel Segarra, a luminary in the world of martial arts, at the age of 76.

Born in Puerto Rico and making Whitefish Falls (Ontario) his home, Grand Master Segarra, alongside his wife Alice, has been a leading figure in martial arts for over four decades. Their teachings in Yoga, Goju, and other related skills have enriched the lives of countless individuals across the U.S. and Canada.

In 1995, Grand Master Segarra was declared the Yogi Jitsu of Ontario by Grand Master Peter Urban. Through his “One Sky Dojo,” he innovatively combined yoga with Goju and integrated meditation, tarot, and other subjects he studied or specialized in.

A two-time inductee into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame, Grand Master Segarra’s influence extended beyond competitions and accolades. He hosted international martial arts tournaments for over 20 years, fostering talent and spreading his love for the discipline.

The Snow Tiger Martial Arts Association deeply recognizes and honours his significant achievements and unwavering dedication to martial arts. His philosophy and practices have left an indelible mark on the martial arts community at large.

Grand Master Yogi Israel Segarra, your wisdom and contributions will continue to resonate with martial artists worldwide. You will be greatly missed.
