Sensei Bob Grabowski

Our martial arts family recently suffered a great loss. On Monday, June 15 Sensei Bob Grabowski passed away.

Sensei Grabowski was the first student at Sensei Bob and Bev Leonard’s Trent Valley Karate Dojo. After much hardcore “old school” training, Sensei Grabowski became the Dojo’s first Karate Black Belt. Sensei Grabowski also graded to Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu on April 10, 1988, in front of a Grading Board headed by Shihan Ron Forrester, the Father of Canadian Jiu Jitsu and one of the most important Jiu Jitsu practitioners in the world.

Sensei Grabowski was the ideal Black Belt candidate that every martial arts instructor looks for: a combination of absolute skill and deep humbleness. In the Snow Tiger group he was ranked at the top in competitive sparring. His skills were elusive, incredibly fast and very accurate. Yet he was friends with everyone and helped as many fellow martial artists as he could.

His work in the martial arts world and his good character will continue to positively influence future martial artists. We will continue to look toward him for inspiration and for what it means to be a good human being both inside and outside the Dojo,

Sensei Grabowski, osu!
